What families should know before arranging RBT services

If your family uses insurance, services must be coordinated through an appropriately qualified and participating provider with the correct clinical supervision and authorization. Ask about options first—then verify details before care begins.
Private insurance
Plans differ by carrier, member benefits, state law, provider network and ABA authorization requirements. Contact your health plan and the participating ABA agency to confirm your exact benefits, clinician participation and any financial responsibility.
Florida Medicaid
Florida Medicaid behavior analysis coverage is available to eligible recipients under age 21 when medically necessary under applicable policy. Your managed care plan or the state’s authorization contractor assesses submitted documentation. Florida AHCA states that behavior analysis services require prior authorization for Medicaid reimbursement.
Cash or self-pay
If private payment is considered, discuss fees, the service model, clinical supervision and any applicable rules directly with the responsible provider. A cash option does not remove clinical supervision requirements.
